Horse Training

I want to caution you that horse training is very dangerous. I have hesitated about a year putting this training section up on the internet, because it is real easy to get in a bind even with a "nice horse".

Nice horses have hurt me more than the "wild ones" simply because I trusted them too much and got caught flat footed. I would suggest that you make sure you start traing your horse in a secure area like a 6 foot high round pen, mine happens to be 50 foot in diameter.

I like the round pen 6 foot tall to kepp them in it and also when you turn your horse or mule into the rail they will lower their head rather than poking over the top.

I use a sand base of at least 10 inches in the round pen this allows for good drainage, and a softer landing ;- )

Ok to start all you horses lay down
over there at that end!

Just kidding, but we are pretty laidback with the horses, follow the links and you will see that in our training methods.
